The next generation of broadcast journalists start their careers on the 25th September 2017. The BJP is an elite radio journalism programme embedded at Bauer Media’s Manchester News Hub. You’ll learn alongside Editor-in-Chief John Pickford and the best journalists in Commercial Radio. This highly acclaimed course is delivered by tutors with over 100 years radio experience between them.

In just 13 intense, practical and demanding weeks, plus a 3 week guaranteed work placement at a Bauer radio station, we’ll get you fit for purpose. With constant practice and coaching you’ll get the best possible preparation for a career in broadcast journalism. Our graduates have gone on to work at CNN, ITV, BBC, LBC and of course at Bauer Media’s market-leading radio stations.

From day one you’ll be encouraged to contribute to the professional output of the Manchester News Hub. Starting with Vox Pops and moving onto news conferences and your own stories. If you’re good enough you may also get the chance to read the network news.

During the programme you will build up a comprehensive body of work, create a compelling CV and be ready to impress during your minimum of 3 weeks work placement at the end of the programme.

Successful candidates will be over 18 and be able to demonstrate a passion for journalism. You will also be required to pass a voice test. The selection criteria are simple, do you have a good chance of becoming a professional broadcast journalist at the end of the process?

Fees are £4,750 for the 16 week programme. Once accepted, a non-refundable deposit of £475 is required to confirm your place. Bursaries may be available for exceptional candidates. In addition, the programme is in the final stages of the qualification process for Career Development Loans.
