Thank you for visiting the website of the National Broadcasting School. We're pleased that you're thinking about a career in radio. The NBS provides high-quality teaching in radio Presentation and Production, and in News. Our courses are intensive, professional and recognised by radio stations throughout the UK. Our aim is simple: to give you the skills and confidence you need to get a job in radio, and to thrive in your broadcasting career.
The broadcasting business continues to expand rapidly. Radio, in particular, is growing as a result of new FM stations, and new digital and Internet radio stations. But in an age where 'content is king', radio is shorter than ever on talent and know-how. At the NBS, we'll give you the knowledge, the skills and the confidence to make a real impact in radio. The NBS is intensive, demanding and hands-on. You'll be behind the mic from week one! And in eleven weeks, we'll have trained you up to give you the very best chance of succeeding in broadcasting.
Our courses in Presentation and Production, and in News centre on learning all those practical skills required in a real radio environment. From the moment you start at the NBS, you'll work under the close supervision of experienced radio people with excellent track records in the business. And by the end of the course, you and your team will be working under the pressure of a full radio schedule. When you have completed the course satisfactorily you'll have the opportunity to get invaluable “real” radio skills with work experience in a professional radio station.
In many respects, radio is the simplest and most exciting medium. It is, perhaps, the easiest to learn but the most difficult to execute. Become a good radio broadcaster and career opportunities will open up for you – in radio and TV.
We look forward to seeing you on one of our courses.
