All you need to apply to the NBS Presentation and Production course is a reasonable voice, imagination and commitment.
Applicants to the News and Production course should have a university degree. Exceptions may be made for those with relevant media experience.NBS graduates who show special promise are brought to the attention of the commercial radio network, with a recommendation from the School's Director.
In addition, the profile of each NBS student is circulated to the commercial radio industry.
The School prepares students' CVs, and assists with the production of demos.All NBS news and production graduates are required to complete a work attachment of a minimum of two weeks at a professional, licensed radio station. These are formal by nature and NBS graduates' performances are monitored by the School. When required, the BJTC and the School assist with the arrangement of work attachments
Presentation graduates also spend time with professional, licensed stations, when opportunities are available.
Each student is equipped with the latest radio production software. Each student has a PC and portable recording kit for the duration of the course. The studios are equipped with standard broadcast consoles.
There are three cups to be won on each course. Each is a useful addition to a CV. There is the Radio Advertising Bureau trophy for the best imaging promo for the medium of radio. There is the NBS salver for the Best Presentation Graduate. And there is the Jon Snow trophy for the Best News Graduate.
Each graduate receives an NBS Diploma.
The School enrolls all graduates into the Radio Academy and pays for the first year's membership fee.
