During the month of August each year, the National Broadcasting School runs a special 5-week course for overseas students.
This course, the Overseas Course, combines intensive instruction in radio presentation, production, programming and radio news. It omits modules such as broadcast law which is different in each country.
This course is five days a week. It is challenging and practical. A good knowledge of English is helpful.
On graduation, students receive a Diploma in Radio.

| Radio writing | News and feature writing; writing intros for on-air promotions and trails, and phone-ins. |
| Interviewing | Location interviewing, studio interviews, phone interviews. |
| Production | News and features; promos and trails; commercials. |
| Radio software | Adobe Audition 1.5 production and editing software, RCS Selector and Linker music software, Burli news software. |
| General | Radio formats; Listener targeting; Music scheduling; How radio Stations Work; Radio in the UK; New transmission technology; Audience research methodology; Setting up a new radio station. |
